Nave and Sanctuary 2007 • Beautiful and loved • Given to us by the faith and labors of many • But also…
The church -- before Not enough worship space Not enough space for ministries, education, choir, or children Not accessible to those with mobility mobilitychallenges Bell tower was a menace And there was the women’s restroom… … Unheated … Spongy floor … Swampy smell … Table storage … AND a urinal!
“The Great Expansion” Glenarm Place Courtyard side (south elevation)
Goals of the expansion EvangelismExpand the worshiping community from a nave seating 125 to approximately 200 while facilitating St. Andrew’s liturgical practices Accessibility Provide handicap accessibility to the nave, undercroft, and restrooms Outreach, Music, Christian Education, Children Provide multipurpose, flexible space for meetings, classes, and events Congregational Life Provide a large room to accommodate congregation-wide events
What’s the difference?AFTER What’s the difference?BEFORE AFTER • Elevator and indoor access to all floors Sacristy in-house Enhanced acoustics Chancel: Light, sound and space Larger choir capacity Seating expanded more than 50% Glenarm Place
Changes: • …Possible because so many gave generously and sacrificially

The love and labor of the people who campaigned and oversaw and repaired and painted and cleaned and gardened and landscaped… How did we do it? Construction shepherding team Leaders of capital campaigns
… and EVERYONE who • Gave to our two capital campaigns • Prayed • Loaned equipment • Brought food • Bought supplies • Found new ways to share space
The changes… • Worship space for up to 300 • Children: Nursery and classrooms • Ministry: Two new meeting spaces • Handicap access • Acolyte and clergy vesting • Sacristy • Graceful, more spacious courtyard …made a difference: • A growing congregation • A thriving children’s ministry • Hospitality to community groups • Access to participation in ministry • An expanding music program • Weekly Evensong • “Who is my Neighbor?”
There’s still a difference……a gap between the funds we have availableand what we need… • To pay off immediate debt • To honor parishioner loans • To lock in low mortgage interest rates
