University/College Application Process • There are two centers for your applications: • Ontario Universities’ Application Centre (OUAC). Website – www.ouac.on.ca • Ontario College Application Service (OCAS). Website – www.ontariocolleges.ca This is where you begin PIN # REQUIRED No PIN # Needed

The Application Process • Visit OCAS and OUAC websites to gather information about Programs you are interested in • Understanding Degrees, Diplomas and Certificates • See your Guidance Counsellor if you need more information • Once you apply, OUAC and/or OCAS will activate your file and send it to the universities and/or colleges that you have listed in your application

Notable Information • You do not dictate “early offers of admission”. They find you. • Competitive programs may look at grade 11 marks to get an idea of a student’s performance potential. • Some universities and colleges may send you a conditional offer of acceptance. PLEASE NOTE: offers are conditional, you must maintain your average and successfully complete requirements.
Notable Information • We send your grades in February and again in early May – after the midterm grades of second semester • In early July, we send your final grades. You cannot start university or college without your diploma • The Admission Information Service(AIS) is available June to August 2018 for those who do not receive an offer of Admission to find other possible openings at other Ontario Universities
Notable Information Costs this Year • The cost for Applying to Ontario Universities is $150. That allows you to apply to 3 schools. An additional Choice Fee is $50 per choice • The cost for Allying to Ontario Colleges is $95.00 That allows you to apply to 5 program choices (no more than 3 at any one college) These fees are non-refundable
IMPORTANT Dates to Remember for University Applications • University applications are due January 11th, 2018, 11:59 p.m. EST • February 6, 2018 - Recommended last date for students to submit all information to the OUAC to be considered for early admission. This information includes university and program changes and additional active choices. Again – THEY FIND YOU • May 26, 2018 – last date you can expect an offer of admission
IMPORTANT Dates to Remember for College Applications • October 2017 -- Access to the online college applications (ontariocolleges.ca). • Late November, 2017—Application data sent to the Colleges • February 1, 2018 – Deadline for College applications equal consideration • May 1, 2018 –Latest date to confirm acceptance
Thinking Of Applying Outside of Ontario? • You must do the research and ensure that you meet the requirements • You must obtain an application (download from website) and submit with fee • Guidance can assist with transcripts and reference letters • If applying to the U.S.A. you must also write the SAT. There is a cost to each time you write
