El PescadoBillfish Tournament’s History • 25th Anniversary • North Florida’s most celebrated blue water event and only charity run tournament in the Southeast • St. Augustine Marlin Club started the tournament as a marlin tournament in 1988 • 26 boats, 6 blue marlin, 1 white marlin and 2 sailfish were caught and released • Formerly in Aprilor May, now in October • Enables crews to cash in on reliable sailfish migration that kicks off during the fall • “Typically reserved for billfishing’s elite who feel right at home in the cockpits of magnificent sport fish yachts”- The Florida Keys Key Largo • Since 2007, when the Monique Burr Foundation for Children assumed management of the tournament over $1 million raised for the Monique Burr Foundation for Children, Inc.

Speak Up Be Safe™ • What is Speak Up Be Safe™? • The Monique Burr Foundation for Children, Inc., is dedicated to providing Speak Up Be Safe™ (SUBS), a national bullying and child abuse prevention program, to every 1st through 5th grade student in Florida public schools. • SUBS is a research-based, developmentally and culturally appropriate program developed in partnership with the Monique Burr Foundation, Childhelp and Arizona State University that addresses bullying, cyberbullying and all forms of child abuse. • Since its introduction in 2010, MBF has provided facilitator training to approximately 800 school counselors who have implemented the program to more than 300,000 1st-5th grade students in 50 counties across the state.
Speak Up Be Safe™ Benefits • Meets Florida’s Common Core Standard • Meets Statute 39 and theChild Abuse Prevention Training Act of 1985 • Speak up Be Safe supports: • Anti-bullying Jeffery Johnston Stand Up For All Students Act which states that bullying or harassment of any student or employee of a public k-12 educational institution is prohibited • HB 609 bill, which prohibits bullying or harassment in the public school system including cyber-bullying. • Comprehensive research-based curriculum developed for 1st-5th graders that possesses the capacity to reach the primary caregivers in a child’s life by having components for parents/caregivers and school personnel • Addresses all areas of abuse – including bullying, cyber-bullying, and digital abuse • Supported by Florida Department of Education • Approximate cost of providing Speak Up Be Safe™ for one elementary student is only $2.00
