  1. Where can one store information from your computer preventing it from getting lost? And My Backup plan By: Brooke Navarro

  2. There are many devices that you can store information or data, it can be either in the computer or from usbs, flash drives, compact flash cards, sd cards, external hard drive or online

  3. Storing Data in your computer • Computer storage: “often called storage or memory, is a technology consisting of computer components and recording media used to retain digital data.”-wikipedia.org • Computer storage is an important task to performed by computers. • But this may not be the best place to store your data, because what if your computer crash and during the crash, it wipes out all your information. • Then you should go with another alternative, than computer data storage

  4. Computer Data storage • RAM-Random Access Memory; this is used as a “scratch pad by the computer processor to store information temporarily.” • The access rate of this type of memory is greater than the ROM. • This volatile memory can lose your data as soon as you turn off your computer • ROM- Read Only Memory; a type of storage that is used to store information permanently. Data stored in this type of memory at the time of manufacturing or is stored by the computer user. • This access rate is les than the RAM

  5. Different types of alternative storage • There are different devices you can store your data from your computer: • Flash Drive: which is a “ a type of storage device that uses sold-state cicuitry and has no moving parts. • USB: “are connected to the ocmputer via the usb part of computer cabinet and use the universal serial bus interface to store information.”

  6. Different types of alternative data storage • External Hard drive- “stores all your valuable data and add a considerable level of safety and security. This is because external hard drives are located outside the computer.” This allows you to back up a copy of all your important files. For example tax records, email archives, photos and more • It connects to your computer with a simple USB cable

  7. Online storage • If you use a MAC Os10- you can backup your data and store it in Time Machine • Time Machine: it’s a built-in backup that works with your Mac and an external drive or Time capsule -Time machine automatically backs up your entire Mac, which includes system files, applications, accounts, preferences, e-mail messages, music and photos -

  8. Eternal hard drives • “External hard drives store your valuable data and add a considerable level of safety and security. are located outside the computer and allow you to keep a backup copy of all your important files - your tax records, email archives, photos, and more.” • It’s also fast, relatively inexpensive and can store large amounts of data Iomega

  9. My Backup plan to where to store information • In my personal experience, it’s not best to store all your data in your computer, I use more than one device to store data. The reason that you shouldn’t store data in your computer it might crash your computer and all your data will disappear usually store information: • USB drives/flash drives • Google storage • External hard drive

  10. My preference to store data: Flash Drives or USB drives • They have a quick file transfer, portable device (which means that you can take it with you) and it requires no set up • On your choice of flash drive, depends on the data capacity, I much prefer a 4 gb to 6 gb flash drive. So it can save a lot of data and it depends on the price of the flash drive

  11. Flash drives and online storage • In my opinion, I think it’s best to store all your information in a flash drive. Because not complicated that you should stick, but like I said it’s depending on your flash drives gb capacity • Online storage, is another option which I prefer I usually use google storage. For example, Google drive, Picasa and gmail. • Google Drive, Picasa, and Gmail give you storage space for free so you can keep your files, email, and photos accessible from any device, anywhere. • I usually use gmail and google drive. Gmail can store about 10 GB of messages and attachments and google drive can store about 5 GB for synched and uploaded files

  12. Another option • I would consider another an external hard drive another option, because it can hold a lot of data- your files. But it may have a high cost range at stores, Best Buy could have sales where the prices could be lower than the value price. Like a flash drive, external hard drive, is like a flash drive you can just plug it back in.
