Pharmaceutical Analysis • Course began in 1967. • The course is bespoke and does not rely on contributions from other courses. • Strongly practically based with the students undertaking 200 hours practical plus a 3 month project during the year. • In addition to academic staff lectures are given by experts from outside the University.

  5. Course Numbers • 2005-6 29 students • 2006-7 44 students • 2007-8 55 students • 2008-9 35 students • Majority of students are from India, Pakistan and the Middle East.

  6. Employment • Many students find jobs in the UK Pharmaceutical Industry. • For the year 2006-7 employment (44 students) is approximately as follows: • UK industry 28 • PhD studies 7 • Went home or went abroad 3

  7. MSc in Clinical Pharmacy

  8. Entry requirements • Qualified pharmacist in home country • Minimum of I year’s clinical experience in practice • High level of English

Two Courses: Common Core • Core – Food Safety, Quality Assurance & Analysis • MSc – Three semesters with project/placement • PgDp – Two semesters of structured learning • Food Biotechnology • Genetic technologies & practice in food and agriculture • Biotechnical aspects of fermentations and dairy topics • Industrial visits to leading Scottish research institutes • Food Science & Microbiology • Practical microbiology in well-equipped laboratories • Small group teaching of modern food microbiology • Learning in applied aspects such as waste processing
