  1. IEEE 802.24 Smart Grid TAG Discussion on NIST Framework and Roadmap for 5 Smart Grid Interoperability Standards, Release 3.0

  2. Updated Framework NIST announcement April 16th: The Draft NIST Framework 3.0 Now Available for Public Comment URL http://www.nist.gov/smartgrid/upload/Draft-NIST-SG-Framework-3.pdf

  3. Catalog of Standards • Table 4-1 “Identified Standards” (p69) • Includes 74 standards from various sources • IEEE 802 is (still) not included

  4. SGIP Process • IEEE 802 input to SGIP • Spreadsheets from 802 WG provided over past 3-4 years. • SIF documents provided by 802.24 • 160 standards are on a list of “CoS Standards Review Pending” • Including IEEE 802

  5. Next Steps • Does this Framework matter anymore? 802.24 consensus: No • The SGIP process for maintaining the CoS is apparently not working • Is it worth our effort to comment or respond? 802.24 consensus: No, but see next slide

  6. Conclusions and Actions • Jay: Work with TIA TR-51 (Jeff Hanna), ETSI , to develop an alternate CoS • Identify and IEEE 802 liaison to ETSI • Check with Larry Taylor? • Include other SDO’s standards. • Include Bill Ash as SA representative • Ben will develop contacts with TIA and ETSI. • Limit our CoS to data link standards that are used in grid applications. • Drafting of response to NIST: Matt G.
