THE PAL PROCESS Winter 2011
The PAL Process helps us to: • Set goals (establish the context of the lesson, align goals to standards, find barriers in goals and plan appropriate scaffolds). • Analyze the status of the current curriculum (the goals, methods, materials, and assessments) identifying barriers to learning • Apply UDL to ensure that lessons will maximize learning (identifying and selecting options that meet the needs of all learners). • Teach the lesson; evaluate and revise as necessary
Step 1 in the PAL Process: • Set goals.
Step 2 of the PAL Process: • Analyze status
PAL Process Step 3: • Identify UDL: Identify UDL materials and methods, write UDL plan, collect and organize materials.
