Lauren Kruse Daughter of Dan and Julie Hogue Kruse Attending: University of Iowa With a major in radiation sciences and plans to become A pediatric radiation therapist. She believes that “nothing comes easy, you have to work for it”. One teacher says “Lauren is an excellent student and role model for others. She has an excellent work ethic and possesses a positive attitude.”
Kristi Comstock Daughter of Bud and Laura Comstock Attending: DMACC Then U of I with a major as a Child Life Specialist to meet the developmental needs Of children in a health care setting. She wants to be the first in her immediate family To receive a college education. One teacher says, “This student produces work of the highest quality, Participates actively in class, and is a pleasure to work with in all Situations where we have interacted together. She is very positive!”
Maggie Tish Daughter of Wes and Michelle Tish Attending: University of Pittsburgh With a major in neuroscience and plans to find a job In research. She received an opportunity in Young Leaders of Character And traveled to area high schools to promote the pillars of The Character Counts program. One teacher says “ Maggie’s fun-loving personality makes her a true Asset to our school community. She is a natural leader who always Goes above and beyond any assigned task and serves as a positive Role model.
JT Crowley Son of Tim and Karen Crowley Attending: University of Iowa With a major in actuarial science and Plans to become an actuary. He earned a perfect 36 on the math section of his ACT. One of his teacher’s says” JT goes above and beyond all of his peers in almost everything. One aspect that I appreciate about JT is that when he gets stumped on something, he doesn’t give up. He will ask how to do the problem.
Lauren Lee Daughter of David and Lisa Lee Attending: Iowa State University With a major in pre-med in order to become a pediatrician She participated in the Big Cats, Little Cats program and has met with two little girls over two years and knows they have changed her life. One teacher says “ Lauren is one of the most determined students in her class. She is not easily deterred from from achieving goals. She is a natural giver and Would let anyone else go first.
Maddie Clark Daughter of Andrew and Sharon Clark Attending: Coe College With a major in education, possibly teaching communication, speech skills or literature She represented CHS as the “Student of Integrity” - chosen by staff and administrators and was asked to re-perform and record a speech about bullying to be used in developing new curriculum for speech class. One teacher says “ Madison is a fantastic young lady who is “going far” in this World. She is certainly deserving of this scholarship and may be the most Under-appreciated member of this senior class”.
Rebekah Frese Daughter of Rev. Jeffrey and Millie Frese Attending: Dominican University With a major yet to be determined, (but recruited to play soccer) In the Horses Helping People program at Wesley Woods, she has learned That we all have a role in helping everyone in our community, and that one Simple act can change someone’s day, year or even life. One teacher says “ Rebekah’s work is far above even the highest rated Students I have had in years!”
Nicole Benhart Daughter of Steve and Julie Benhart Attending: DMACC with a career in Respiratory Therapy After acceptance on the National Council on Youth Leadership, she learned That leaders come in all different forms, shapes, sizes and types. One teacher says “ Nicole is an excellent student who stands above Her peers in that she puts full effort in any task given and who always Possesses a positive attitude and strong work ethic.”
Abby Warren Daughter of Kerri and Travis Warren Attending: Central College With a major in education and history and plans to become A high school history teacher After attending the Hugh O’Brian Youth Leadership Conference she learned about stepping out of her comfort zone. Nine years in 4-H taught her a great deal about organization and communication. One teacher says “ Abby is a very responsible young lady, very trusting, And has a positive attitude!”
