  1. Running and Monitoring the PHENIX Drift Chamber Julia Velkovska and Tom Hemmick Online Meeting Julia Velkovska

  2. Turn on the DC electronics • Water cooling ON - monitor T and flow using ADAM • LV supply ONCS panel On/Off Read V,I and compare to last run - DB access • Synchronize the Timing Glink ONCS - GTM fill frames DC - read HeapMgr CSR and confirm lock ONCS - normal running These steps should be one command in the future Online Meeting Julia Velkovska

  3. ArcNet Communications • Network map - who is alive? • Read Temp sensor CSRs - get geographic addresses and board serial #s - output to tape • generic INIT - load HeapMgr and TMC CSRs • threshold DACs - need DB access • Throughout the running - polling CSRs to monitor Temperature and TMC errors - dump into the Data Distributor Online Meeting Julia Velkovska

  4. DC ready to send data • Lock FEM-DCM Glink FEM s are programmed to send fill frames all the time except when sending data ONCS - verify the FEM-DCM lock through VME • PULSE ONCS - program the GTM mode bits to issue a test pulse and a LV1 trigger to the FEM, Begin Run, DD - Staf DC - Staf code to verify the pulse, check detector noise level, adjust thresholds , need DB access Online Meeting Julia Velkovska

  5. Electronics ready - DC turn ON • Flow gas - DC/PC/TEC using ADAM ? In mixing hut and on carriage • HV on - data base with target values and gain curve • DATA Online Meeting Julia Velkovska

  6. Ancilliary systems • Canary chamber monitoring the charge carriers drift velocity in the DC gas LV - DC to DC converter HV - from the last keystone DC code to initialize, run , read data via ArcNet ONCS - insert data into the DD • Gas analyzer Online Meeting Julia Velkovska

  7. Monitoring ONCS • example page with fake histograms how many per subsystem ? • framework within which a person on shift will look at the histograms • history info - call up another run and compare DC • monitoring of detailed “ only for experts” data pages • schedule pulser events Online Meeting Julia Velkovska

  8. What else do we need ... • Collect variety of readings through ArcNet and archive them - T sensors, error registers, canary chamber data • What if something goes wrong… audible ALARMS Online Meeting Julia Velkovska
