Highlights VPASA Seed Fund Guidelines • Committee Charge • To cultivate Research and Scholarly Activity that promote student engagement and faculty collaboration, and are consistent with the GGC mission • One category • Faculty Seed Fund– maximum $3000 • No student only grants • Only FT faculty
Highlights VPASA Seed Fund Guidelines Criteria for evaluation – overall merit in one or more of the following areas • Potential for contributions to the discipline of study to include publications, conference presentations and leveraging external funding; • Informing teaching or pedagogy; • Fit of project in training and engaging undergraduates; • Multidisciplinary orientation

Narrative • Five pages maximum, but less is fine! • Introduction: frame your work • Needs Statement • Goalsbroad purpose statement • Objectivesbe specific • Methods/Activities • Research Outcomes • Evaluation what will be the products? • Referencesnot included in your 5 pages
A note about IRB approval • Proposals may be submitted with IRB approval pending. • The IRB will meet after Feb. 1 but before April 15, 2013. • Proposals will not be funded without IRB approval by April 15, 2013.
Budget • Some changes from previous years • The following items will not be funded: • Gift cards • Food or drinks • Alcohol or tobacco • Travel over $675 • Rationale: • Major external funding agencies do not fund these items.
Routing Form • Must be signed by your Dean! • Please plan in advance, your Dean may not be available on Feb. 1.
Highlights VPASA Seed Fund Guidelines • Deadline – Feb. 1, 2013, at 5 pm • Please submit electronically to ctimpte@ggc.edu • Routing form separate as original signatures are needed (can be pdf or hard copy) • One big pdf document would be nice! • PI name as filename (not “seed fund proposal”) • Winners will be announced around April 15, 2013.
Extras • A workshop will be held in early summer for award recipients to learn the procedures for spending the funds. • A final report will be due in September 2014 following the close of the Seed Fund fiscal year, on June 30.
