  4. Current Education Your child is expected to stay in education or training until the age of 18.

Education 2012 • Post 16 course providers are looking for higher grades. • There is more competition for post-16 places. • Universities are taking GCSE grades into consideration. • There are fewer University places available. • Modern Apprenticeships are becoming more available and applications need to be competitive.

English Baccalaureate “The subjects we have included are designed to ensure that all pupils have the opportunity to study a broad core of subjects, ensuring that doors are not closed off to them in terms of future progression. For example, for pupils hoping to go to university, The Russell Group guide on making informed choices for post-16 education identifies ‘facilitating subjects’ at A level.
