2. transport • Papyrus rolls with heiroglyphic tells us about food being brought to the pharoe markets in reed baskets carried by donkeys • A wooden model from a tomb in the valley of kings shows us that wooden boats with sails,oars and large rudders were used for the heaviest journeys

More on transport • Stone carvings in the temple at thebes shows slaves carrying large loads on their backs using a pole heavier loads were carried on two poles with two men • A model in tutankamuns tomb shows us him using a small boat made from reeds to hunt in the marshes of the nile • A stone carving shows a pharoah being carried in a chair on two poles on a shoulder of four slaves. This idea would only be used for short journeys in the city

5. Priest women • Priest women showered at least four times a day to be pure for the gods in the temple • They sang and danced in front of statues of the gods • They often made medicines for the sick who visited the temple duding illness

6. Rich women • Had many slaves as servants • Went to many rich feasts • Often ran large farms when their husbands were away • Had to share a husband with one or two more wives • More fine white linen dresses • Spent lots of time painting their faces • Showed they wererich by their gold and jewels

Ordinary women (Mrs.bell) • Wore simple white tunic dresses • Had very few personal goods • Made all the familys bread • Cooked all the meals • Had to help their husband in work in busy times • Cleaned the home daily • Bartered goods for food in the market • Looked after the children all day long • Spun and wove flax to make the familys clothes

9. food and drink in ancient egypt • Beer is made from mashed stale bread then it is strained • Bread is made from wheat and its made by the slave • Beef is geese and fish • Onions and leeks were often use in foods • Fruit-dried pieces have been found in tombs • Honey-model bee hives have been foun in tombs showing us that honey was probably a maojor food at the time • There were no knives forks ect.

10. khufu • When khufu was alive hemade plans for his own burial and journey to the next life • He told his men to build a great pyramid and so they did on the banks of the river nile in Giza • It would stand for all time as a monument of his greatness • It was built about 4,500 years ago • I t was originally covered in limestone

Random facts  • It is believed that it took 100,000 men to work on khufus pyramid for 20 years • Egyptian measurement is 4 fingers…7 palms = 1 cubit • Most egyptians lived in dried out huts made from dry clay bricks • Boats were made from reeds or wood which grew on the banks of the river nile 

13. MUMMIFICATION • The man will get its brains out • Everything is preserved for forty days • It then gets wrapped in ilinen bandages • Its face then gets painted and moulded like its face • Its then put in its wooden coffin and sealed with wax
