Trojan War • Begins approximately 1200 B.C. • 1189 B.C. the city of Troy falls • Greek city-states v. Troy • Causes: • According to legend, a Trojan youth, Paris, kidnapped Helen, the wife of Greek king, Agammenon
Trojan War (cont’d) • Most likely the war was a raid against a rival city-state that controlled vital trade routes • The Trojan Horse according to most scholars would have been either a battering ram or a siege engine
