This session aims to harvest sector thinking on sustainability issues for CLCs in Queensland, including financial sustainability and collective efforts. Participants will engage in discussions on efficiency, coordination, quality, access to justice, workforce capability, and evidence-based information.

This session • Objective – Harvest the sector thinking about next steps on issues of sustainability for CLCs in Queensland • Sustainability is not just financial, but includes financial sustainability • Sustainability of CLCs is both individual and collective Developing a sector sustainability plan 2

  4. 6 Domain Area questions 1. Efficiency and financial sustainability – how do we ensure that we have enough resources to meet the needs of our community? 2. Coordination and collaboration – How can we coordinate and collaborate with the legal assistance sector so that we can achieve a fair and just Queensland? 3. Quality and continuous improvement – How do we know we are providing quality services to the community and what are the opportunities for improvement? Developing a sector sustainability plan|4

  5. 6 Domain areas 4. Access to justice and client centred service delivery – how do we make sure that our services are targeted where they are most needed? 5. Workforce capability and sustainability – how can we ensure that we have the workforce that we need and there are opportunities to develop expertise in our sector 6. Evidence base and information management – how do we make sure we have all the information to best demonstrate the legal needs of our communities and the impact of our services Developing a sector sustainability plan |5

  6. The process • 6 domain areas – 6 groups – 6 tables • 1 person in the group stays at the table the whole cycle to record and facilitate (facilitator) • Each table has a domain area with a key question for discussion for 5 minutes • On the butchers paper the facilitator records actions or activities (individual or collective) that come out of the discussion • After 5 mins the facilitatorstays the rest of the group moves onto the new domain area • The facilitator updates the new group about the domain area and helps move the discussion onto new actions or activities • New ideas for actions or activities get recorded • The cycle continues until each group has discussed all 6 domain areas.   7. Priority setting • 6 stars – 6 votes • Gold stars are votes for CLCQ/sector priority activities • Silver stars are votes for individual CLC priorities • Feel very strongly about a priority? You can vote more than once for an action or activity Developing a sector sustainability plan |7
