Why games? • Learning verb conjugations requires a great deal of effort. • Break from the usual routine of the language class. • They are motivating. • They create a meaningful context for language use.
1) Chancho SALGO SALIR Purpose: to make students aware of difficult or irregular verb forms. Objective: to gather together cards to complete the conjugation of a given verb. Materials: verb cards (cardboard, scissors, marker) Dynamic: groups of 10 students or less Time: 15 – 20 min SALES SALE ES SER ERES SOY
2) VerbBoardGame Purpose: to practice verb conjugations Objective: to get to LLEGADA (last box of the board). Materials: board, 1 dice, counters. Dynamic: groups of 5 students. Time: 20 – 30 min
3) Verb Dominoesadaptedfrom Instituto Cervantes Objective: to get rid of all your domino cards. Materials: domino cards Dynamic: groups of 3-4 students. Time: 15 – 20 min
4) Oyes, Dices (Youhear, Yousay) Purpose: to practice verb conjugations, as well as listening and speaking skills Objective: to say all the verbs in your card Materials: verb cards Dynamic: 3 or more students Time: 15 – 20 min
