The Direction of the Chapter • Conferences & Conventions • On Campus Conference • Fall Regional PCI Conference (September 26, 2009 at MIT) • Travel Dates • Fall Zone Conference (October 24, 2009 at Northeastern Univ.) • Fall Regional Conference (November 12-15, 2009 Rochester, NY) • First International Convention (March 31-April 4, 2010 Toronto, Canada) • Unfortunately, unlike past years NSBE-MIT will NOT be sponsoring our membership to this year’s International Convention

The Direction of the Chapter • Chapter Objectives: • IGNITE • Integrate Lines of Communication Amongst Boston Area NSBE Chapters • Grow as a Chapter in Areas of Academia and Professionalism • Navigateour Chapter Through a Fulfilling Year Despite Trying Economic Times • Increase Committee Involvement • Typify the standards of an accomplished chapter through exemplar excellence in programs • Encourage Participation in Technical Research

The Direction of the Chapter • Zone-Wide PCI Conference • Hosted by The MIghTy MIT Chapter (NSBE-MIT) • September 26, 2009 10:00 am-4:00 pm • Will introduce Pre-College students to engineering • Will assist students with preparation for applying to college • Volunteers are needed!!! “Become the Manifestation of a Dream”

Dean DiOnetta Jones(Office of Minority Education) • New Associate Dean and Director of the MIT Office of Minority Education • BA in Communications from Northwestern State University • MA in Education and Counseling Psychology from the University of the Pacific • She has also completed post-graduate course work in Education Administration and Theology • Previously served as Director of Education, Training and Outreach for GEM (‘01-05) • Previously Director of Diversity Programs for Cornell University College of Engineering • Serves on the 2009 WEPAN Board of Directors Awards and Recognitions • Cornell Synergy Award • Advisor of the Year • …and a host of many others
