  5. - Three opportunities given per year. - Students who have met do not have to take the test again. - OAKS allows students to regroup and guide the teacher's instruction. - There is a huge amount of pressure to pass the test on students and teachers. OAKS

  6. - K through 5th uses AIMSweb -K/1 tests: *Letter Naming *Letter Sounds *Nonsense Word Fluency (noj, jif, caz) *Phonemic Segmentation Fluency (d-o-g) 1st grade (end of year) and 2nd - 5th tests: *fluency (1 minute timed passage) Only 1st grade does retell (which is optional) We are told this is a relatively reliable indicator of acquisition of reading abilities.   14. - Pick and implement a common assessment school wide. - Teachers should use a core program. - Have materials easily accessible to all teachers - Assessments are used to show growth over time for a specific group of students. - Assessments should be used to drive instruction regularly.
