Landforms Three landform in the desert are: (1.)Sand dunes (2.) Buttes (3.)Mesas
Producers Aloe Juices from the aloe plant can soothe the pain from burns Ocotillo Has very small leaves so the water inside of it won’t evaporate quickly Prickly Pear Cactus Its thorns help keep it safe from predators Yucca This plant grows in a variety of different climates.
Herbivores Part 1 • Diurnal animal. • Eats grass, seeds, roots and bulbs. • Also known as Barbary sheep. • Similar to goats. • Eats grass, herbs, leaves,and twigs. Aoudad Desert Warthog
Herbivores Part 2 • Similar to rabbits and hares • feeds on grass, acacia seeds, and sometimes cacti • Also known as mountain gazelle • eats anything green Edmi Patagonian Cavy
Carnivores Part 1 Kit Fox Bobcat Eats rodents, rabbits, birds, deer, and sheep Eats rodents, rabbits, and birds
Carnivores part 2 Coyote Eats birds, lizards, insects, small mammals, frogs,and earthworms. Eats small rodents, rabbits, and carrion Cactus Ferruginous Pygmy Owl
Climate and Temperature In the desert biome, temperatures range from 136°F to -11°F. There are two main types of desert; Hot and Cold The Al-Azizia desert in the Sahara is a Hot desert. It is blazing hot during the day, and cold at night. It is one of the hottest deserts in the world with a record temperature of 136°F! The Takla Makan desert is a Cold desert. It has extremely cold temperatures in the winter (-11° F) and it’s average temperature in the summer is 86°F.
Rainfall Did you know that the desert biome gets an average of 10 inches or less of precipitation each year?
Deserts in Danger Endangering animals and plants is a ecological concern in the desert. Many cacti plants are illegally removed from the desert and sold for thousands of dollars. Also, many different species of lizard and snake are being sold as exotic pets.
Conservation Effort If we stop collecting plants and animals from the desert we can save them from becoming endangered species. By persevering these wild life plants and animals, many generations to come can enjoy their beauty.
Vacation in The Desert Many people would enjoy the desert because of it’s exotic animals and plants. Also, the desert has many unique climates and landforms.
