  2. Geological Features • One third of Earth’s landmass is desert • Located along the North and South Latitude Bands. • Deserts are usually created because they are located in a rain shadow. • Deserts areas usually have Internal Drainage to drain Into land locked basins rather than the ocean.

  3. Temperature • Varies daily, seasonable hot and cold. • On average, the temperature is 64 degrees. • Desert climates are created by high-pressure zones in which cold air descends. • Deserts usually receive less than 5 cm of precipitation a month

  5. Types of Animals • Kangaroo rat • Coyotes • Hawks • Owls • Roadrunners • Snakes • Lizards • Small mammals • Tortoises • Scorpions • Spiders

  6. Human Impact • Riding off road is a major human impact, which can kill the sand viper • Mining for oil

  7. Economic Value of Deserts • Mining for oil is the main economic value for the deserts • There are some plants that are used for expensive perfumes
