Gender Equality as Smart Economics 2006 • MDG 3 (gender equality), especially women’s economic empowerment is lagging • For accelerating MDG 3 achievement, Bank needs to mainstream gender in economic sectors- infrastructure, Agriculture and Rural Development, Private Sector Development, Finance. • Increase access of women in 4 markets –product, financial, land and labor. • 22 Focus countries
Bank Progress in Gender MainstreamingOperations Ahead of Analysis Source:Lending results from QAG reviews of new lending portfolio. Analytical work results from PRMGE review of ESW completed each year (PAs, core ESW, and CASs). * Based on available data, results for lending operations were aggregated for FY04-05.
