The content has been selected with the citizen’s various needs of knowledge in mind. The user interface is in Finnish, Swedish and English.

THP is financed by the Ministry of Education. THP has a leading group with members from every library sector. THP is an independent part of Libraries.fi portal.

It is based on the classification system of Helsinki City Library with over 22 000 index terms. Every keyword has a library class. All the keywords in the index belong to one of the ten main groups and under the main group to one or more sub groups.

The Subject search is based on the same system as the keyword search. Now you don’t write keywords, instead you first select a main group and from that a sub group. The name of the sub group is a link which opens all the keywords classified in this category. Every keyword is an active link and starts the search. Search results are arranged in the same way like in the Keyword search.

Title search means mainly searching from the library databases, i.e. ”Sinuhe, the Egyptian” or ”Strangers in the night”. In addition to this you can influence on the search results by selecting one or more specification alternative.

In SFL these are primarily library databases. Frank is a metasearch which the SFL-project has developed together with Libraries.fi. Frank is an open source product. Nelli is a metasearch for books and scientific articles organized by Finnish National Library. Regional public libraries co-operate with Nelli and organize metasearching locally in their library portals.

SFL doesn’t produce any information and that’s why the Public sector is only a link list to governmental information and web services.

Electric transaction service can be produced by net shop, bank, governmental office etc. The secure use demands that you have an electronic identity card. All the transmitted information has to be protected, of course.
