Outcomes of the workshop • Science Plan • Validation of the Science Plan of each WG: WG1, WG2, WG3, WG4 WG5: needs input at least for droughts • link with international programs to be included in the second draft by the HyMeX ISSC (P. Lionello, P. Drobinski, V. Ducrocq) • Program strategy (ISP/IIP): Significant progresses have been made in the elaboration of the program strategy to be included in the second draft by the WG leaders

Outcomes of the workshop Asked by round tables : • ISSC should make an exchange chart for data • ARGO profilers : should be an international effort • Invitation letter to invite the meteorological, hydrological and ocean services to participate with observations and modelling • The HYMEX Steering Committee or an appointed Task Force, organize a meeting with the EU Officers in order to promote the HYMEX objectives with the aim to assure relevant calls in the near-future. • Meetings to organize rapidly: • aircraft operation (already set-up in France) • research vessel operation (already set-up in France) • Coordination for the Ship of opportunity • Data-base and metadata base • Show more clearly what HyMeX will bring new/main achievements
Outcomes of the workshop Current Science Objectives section : “These societal and science issues motivate the HyMeX program which aims: • to improve our understanding of the water cycle, with emphases on extreme events by monitoring and modelling the Mediterranean coupled system (atmosphere-land-ocean), its variability (from the event scale, to the seasonal and interannual scales) and characteristics over one decade in the context of global change, • to evaluate the societal and economical vulnerability to extreme events and the adaptation capacity. The multidisplinary research and the database developed within HyMex should be beneficial to the improvement of : • observational and modelling systems, especially of coupled systems. This requires new processes modelling, parameterization development, novel data assimilation systems for the different Earth compartments, reduction of uncertainty in climate modelling, • the prediction capabilities of extreme events, • the accurate simulation of the long-term water-cycle, • the definition of adaptation measures, especially in the context of global change.”
Outcomes of the workshop TTO/TTM/TS: • First list of TTO atmosphere & continental surfaces • First list of TTM (modelling of surface continental) • First list of TS Contact potential leaders/core group to set-up the tasks Define a roadmap for each task (with round tables chairmen and WG leaders) Define and set-up progressively the other tasks.
