What is Project Foresight? • Walmart Health and Wellness National Scholarship Competition for the Colleges of Optometry in the United States & Puerto Rico • Promotes the Profession of Optometry and Incorporates the Teachings of the Schools of Optometry • Highlights the Mission of Walmart Health & Wellness: • Quality, Accessible & Affordable Healthcare for Everyone • Incorporates the Three Basic Beliefs Walmart was Founded on: • Respect for the Individual • Service to Our Customers • Striving for Excellence Walmart Health and Wellness Project Foresight

Project ForesightNational Scholarship Competition Overview • Teams of two will develop and present an optometric innovation or creative business concept in the form of a 1-page summary showcasing their idea of “The Future of Optometry” that will be assigned one of 8 pre-determined Regions for judging Health & Wellness - Project Foresight

Project ForesightNational Scholarship Competition • Once the innovative concepts & business proposals are received your Regional Judging Panel (RTS, Operator, & Current OD) will judge and rank the proposals in each Region • Teams will develop and present a business plan & presentation to a panel of school & Walmart/Sam’s Club judges • 20 minute presentation + 10 minute Q & A session • From each Region, we will select one winning team based on the presentations given at the Regional School Level Competition.  • ! Project ForesightNational Scholarship Competition • Winning team(s) will represent their School & Region in the National Competition at the AOA! • All Regional winning teams will also develop a poster of their idea to be displayed at the Walmart/Sam’s Club Dessert Reception at the AOA! • Prize for best team poster at the AOA!!   7. What is a Business Plan? A Business Plan is a written summary of what you hope to accomplish in your practice innovation and how you intend to organize your resources to meet your goals. This is the road map for operating your practice or marketing your optometric innovation. Walmart Health and Wellness Project Foresight

Business Plan for Project Foresight • Detailed as Necessary for Your Practice Innovation • Business Plan Components • Mission Statement • Ownership and Management Summary • Market and Demographic Analysis (Patient Base) • Services and Products Provided • Identify a Market Niche • Short and Long Term Goals • Financial Data and Profile • Marketing Plan • Staffing and Daily Operations • Remember Project Foresight Competition Purpose: • Promote the Profession of Optometry, Incorporating the Teachings of the Schools or Colleges of Optometry • A practice that is viable next to a Walmart/Sam’s Club Vision Center • Incorporate the Beliefs and Mission of Walmart Health & Wellness Walmart Health and Wellness Project Foresight

Presentation for Project Foresight • Presentations Should Showcase “The Future of Optometry” • Presentation Format: It’s up to you! • BE CREATIVE! • Try to Impress! • How Will Your Team Stand Out? • Did You Build Your Case? • Examples: PowerPoint, Video, etc. – You decide! • BE CREATIVE!!! • Presentations Judged by a Panel at the School Level Competition • Three Finalist Teams Selected by the School Will Compete • 20 Minute Presentation • 10 Minute Question and Answer Session Walmart Health and Wellness Project Foresight

Project ForesightNational Scholarship Competition $$ Prizes $$ • Winners of each Regional Competition & Wild Card Winners: • $1,500 Team Scholarship Award • $750 voucher (per team member) to be applied towards travel expenses for AOA Optometry’s Meeting • Winners of National Competition: • 1stPlace Grand Prize $15,000 Team Scholarship Award & presented with the traveling Trophy • 2ndPlace $5,000 Team Scholarship Award • 3rd Place $2,500 Team Scholarship Award • Winners of Best Poster: • iPad mini per Team member Health & Wellness - Project Foresight

Project ForesightNational Scholarship Competition Timeline • January 6th, 2014 • Entry Form Submission Deadline/Video uploaded to YouTube • February 3rd, 2014 • Announcement of Regional video winners who will advance to the Regional School Level Competition • April 2014 • Regional Winners will compete at School Level Competition • Business Plans Due and Live Judging of Presentations • May 5th, 2014 • Walmart/Sam’s Club Announces Final Teams competing in the National Competition • June 25th-June 29th, 2014 • National Competition at the AOA in Philadelphia, PA Walmart Health and Wellness Project Foresight
