Fayetteville Rockets Track • Provide Youth athletes between the ages of 6 to 18 years of age, with a positive and rewarding athletic experience in the world of track and field. • We are committed to improving athletic skills while simultaneously fostering growth and development on both a personal, educational and social level. • Provide an environment where parents can feel good about allowing their child to participate in the sport of track and field.

  3. Coaches and Staff • All coaches are volunteers. We are individuals that take our personal time to instruct your child • Team Parents can volunteer to assist the coaches regardless of experience by: • Helping with phone calls to team members • Helping with organization of travel to meets • Helping with practice, water and snack committee • Help with organizing with team party and banquet • Help with fundraisers

Safety Issues Coaches will monitor all practices and Track meets to ensure of athletes safety • During practices; parents and children are asked to remain off the field unless walking the track for exercise • Please control children that are not participating on the team • Only Coaches and athletes will use track equipment and Methodist University’s equipment • Parent’s are required to remain at practice in the event of a medical emergency • Horse playing will not be tolerated, especially in the stands

  7. Practice Track Season begins 15 March, 2011 and ends in early June. Practices are held at Methodist University . Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday from 6:00-8:00 PM. • Your athlete should wear comfortable clothing (Shorts, T-shirt, and Sweats). Any type of running shoe is appropriate. • A water bottle is a necessity. Please mark your child's name on it • A lightweight jacket or sweater is also needed for the chilly months. Midway through the season your child will need to bring a Sprinter Spike or Throw shoe (field events only) to practice to better enhance their training.

  8. Meets • FCPR only provides 2 Developmental meets to athletes at no cost • Remainder of the season track meets cost normally $5 per child. The parent pays this fee, not the team. • The are approximately 5-6 meets throughout the entire season. (-Junior Olympics and Nationals) • Track meets will last all day Saturday (8 AM-5 PM). • Athletes can be registered by coaching staff 2 days prior to track meet

  9. Hydration All athletes must drink water before, during, and after exercise. • Before Exercise Drink 10 to 14 oz. of cold water 1 to 2 hours before the activity. Drink 3-6 oz.of cold water or diluted fruit juice 15 to 20 minutes before the activity. • During Exercise Drink 3 to 4 oz. of cold water every 15 minutes. • After Exercise Drink 2 cups (16 oz.) of cold water. • Weigh kids before and after exercise to determine how much fluids they are losing during activity. After exercise have your child drink at least 24 ounces of a sports drink for every pound lost during exercise

Disciplinary Rules and Policies The following may result in parent/coach meeting and suspension from the team and/or track meet: • Reported unacceptable behavior at practice or track meet (including use of profanity). • Continued failure to complete or put forth a good effort at practice or track meet. • Withdraw or Missing an event at a track meet. • Continually late to or absent from practice. • Not following the direction of a coach. • Arguing or fighting at practice or track meet. . • Continually causing tension or conflict within the team.

Standards of ConductAthlete Fulfill the responsibilities and expectations of being a Rockets track athlete: • Be Honest, Respectful and Reliable at all times. • Dedicate yourself to improving, both as an athlete and as a person. Set an example for other athletes: • Treat everyone fairly within the context of the activity, regardless of gender, race, sexual orientation, religion, or economic status. Demonstrate good sportsmanship and Cooperation: • Respect the rules and support the decisions of all coaches and sport officials • Be respectful during ceremonies and help other athletes be the same.
