The Ideal Classroom... As prospective educators, our ideal classrooms would make use of several 1:1 technologies. While given an unlimited budget, we desire to have few, simple technologies that can be incorporated into much of our classroom, rather than many different forms of technology. Our ideal classrooms would utilize: • 1:1 iPads (for teachers and students) • iPad keyboards • Extensive use of Google Docs
Why One to One Technology? • Allows collaboration between other educators • "1:1 Technology allows teachers to differentiate both in terms of how they teach and how the students are expected to demonstrate their learning" - K. Walsh
Why One to One Technology? • Create an engaging learning environment in which students are interested in the learning process. • Facilitates communication between parents, students, and school faculty • Opens up a world of resources to the students without ever having to leave the classroom
Benefits of Google Drive • Opens doors for collaborative learning and projects outside of the classroom • Allows for peer editing • Provides a means for a class wide experiment or project in which a large amount of data must be collected and graphed
Google Drive, Cont. • Removes possible formatting errors from work transfer between systems and versions • Allows for variety for tools of assessment
The Wonders of iPads • Students who have greater difficulty learning are finding the iPad a great equalizer - easier differentiation in the classroom • Allows students to participate more fully in class • Provides easier interaction with the learning material
iPads, cont. • More engaging ways to become familiar with math and physics concepts • Great resource for iBooks • Engage disconnected students with by giving them something interactive to hold their attention
