Route 66 Road Trip • Today we are going on a road trip down Route 66. Route 66 – called the Mother Road was the first paved road to go across the country. It is over 2,000 miles long and goes through 8 states from Chicago, IL to Barstow, CA. Our class is going to take a tour down the mother road and learn some new math concepts along the way. Renting Cars • Before we begin our road trip, we need to rent some cars. The car rental place only has 5 cars. There are 20 students in our class. How many students will need to ride in each car?
How much gas do we need? • Next, we need to put gas in our cars. If each car hold 27 gallons of gas and we already have 11 gallons in each car, how many more gallons of gas do we need to put in each car?
Lunch at the Polk-a-Dot Diner • Just like Annie mouse, we are going to eat lunch at the Polk-a-Dot Diner. We can spend a total of $114.00 dollars at the diner. When we finish lunch, our bill came to a total of $89.00 dollars. How much money do we have left over?
Bill Shea's Route 66 Gas Station Museum • We stop in Springfield to visit Bill Shea’s gas station museum. In the souvenir store, Amy spends a total of $56.00 dollars and Pat spends a total of $ 31.00 dollars. How much money did Amy and Pat spend together?

Miles Traveled • Leah wants to know how many miles we have traveled since we left Chicago. We drove 517 miles to get from Chicago to Springfield. We drove 271 miles to get from Springfield to Oklahoma City. We drove 266 miles to get from Oklahoma City to Amarillo. How many total miles have we traveled?
Picture time! • Lets have our picture taken with the totem pole. Only three people can be in the picture at once. How many pictures do we need to take so everyone can have their picture taken?
Cadillac Ranch • Let’s paint at Cadillac Ranch! Each student will need 2 cans of paint. How many cans of paint will we have total?
Burro Rides • Oh, friends, we are almost to the end of our trip! But, did you see those burros?? We have a little problem. Timmy wants to ride the burros. If only 2 of us can ride on a burro, how many of those burros do we need to lasso for a ride? Who can show us how to figure this out?
