What was society like growing up? Then: Now: There is now more fear and tension in society with everything ranging from war, to the economy. • Society was more laid back, there wasn’t as much tension or fear like there is now.
What kind of activities would teenagers do back then? Then: Now: The places teenagers hangout has changed. Halloween hours are much shorter now. • We would hangout at the bowling alley’s, hangout at the parking lot of mcdonalds. We would trick or treat for hours until midnight.
What sort of technology was used? Then: Now: Cellphones are everywhere now. Computers have taken over, and cable television brings us hundreds of channels. • No cellphones, phones were connected to the wall. We used typewriters instead of computers, there was only 6 channels on our tv.
What were some norms back then? Then: Now: Larger families are less common now. Smoking is now prohibited by students on school grounds. • Larger families, our highschools had smoking areas outside.
What things did you value as a teenager? Then: Now: Todays values havent really changed all that much still pretty similar to the 60’s • I valued my friends and family, having fun. I valued my job as a teenager. Everyone valued there cars.
How has language changed since then? Then: Now: New slang words had emerged into our language today. The words used then are now very different from todays. • Back then we had different slang for certain words like the police were called “fuzz.” Terms like groovy were used.
What type of clothing was worn? Then: Now: Clothing has changed very much from that of before. We no longer see patterned clothing. • People wore paisley printed pants, bellbottoms, a lot of patterned cloths back then.
