Defining Roles • Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction (Department of Ed) • School Nutrition Team • Team Nutrition Program • Roles: • Provide overall program administration • Selection of schools • Assist with procurement, etc. • Provide USDA Team Nutrition Resources
Defining Roles • Wisconsin Department of Health Services • Nutrition, Physical Activity, & Obesity Program • Roles: • Provide assistance with program evaluation; fruit and vegetable consumption and related measurements • Provide fruit and vegetable related-resources for schools • Assist with identifying nutrition education materials/resources for use in schools
Defining Roles • Wisconsin Department of Agriculture, Trade, & Consumer Protection • Buy Local, Buy Wisconsin Program • AmeriCorps Farm-to-School Pilot Program • Wisconsin Farm Center • Roles: • Provide schools with assistance and resources for procuring locally-grown produce • AmeriCorps to provide nutrition education in schools participating in FFVP and the Farm-to-School Pilot Program
Defining Roles • University of Wisconsin-Extension • Wisconsin Nutrition Education Program (Federally Funded by SNAP ED) • Roles: • Provide direct nutrition education to FFVP Schools (WNEP can work with schools with a student population that is 50% or greater free and reduced)

Program Evaluation • Created a logic model demonstrating long-term outcomes of FFVP; used to determine evaluation measures • Discussed what could be required by FFVP schools; incorporated into RFP process
Program Evaluation • Rolled out statewide evaluation (2009-2010 school year) • Pre/Post Student Survey • Measures related to fruit & vegetable consumption & predictors of • Made web-based version available for schools • Pre/Post Teacher Survey • Measures related to program/classroom implementation and teacher perceptions • Made web-based version available for schools
Program Evaluation • Currently Working On: • Evaluation plan for 2011-2012 FFVP Schools • Creating a parent survey • Data analysis for previous school year(s)
Nutrition Education Materials • Purchased point-of-decision prompts, posters for classrooms & lunchrooms with brand; distributed to all FFVP schools • Side Note: FFVP also linked to Wisconsin’s Team Nutrition Program
Linking to Farm-to-School (F2S) • FFVP Coordinator participates in Statewide F2S Work Group; helped create strategic plan for WI • Created joint memo to clarify use of local produce in meals & snacks: • http://www.dpi.state.wi.us/fns/ffvp.html
