We have been living our SAIL pledge daily • So now we are going to learn about the next part of the SAIL program! • SAIL is our Positive Behavior Intervention Program. In other words, this is just one way B-UMS staff recognize students who are doing a great job being students. • Students have daily opportunities to earn recognition for a job well done. • Students also have opportunities to earn quarterly rewards!
SAIL Procedure • All staff members (teachers, aides, cooks, custodians, principals) have tickets to give out each week. When they catch you using SAIL you could be rewarded with a ticket. • Staff & students, place your name on the back of the ticket. DO NOT LOSE THEM! • Each teacher will have a minimum of 4 exchange “items” for you to turn in your tickets; all teachers will offer a 5 point pass (4 tickets) plus three exchange items of their choice. Please note, 5 point passes are available ONLY when you are not on the ICU list! Sorry, no more homework passes, we want you to learn the standards!
SAIL Procedure continued • You can also save your tickets to spend at SAIL Mart! SAIL Mart will be open during your lunch shift on Friday's beginning in a few weeks. This gives you plenty of time to start earning and collecting those tickets! There will be items for 1 ticket and up. • Allstaff are to turn in their SAIL envelopes on Thursday's so they can get refills of tickets for the following week. Place them in Ms. Meadows’ mailbox and our SAIL Mart managers will refill and return them to mailboxes by the end of the day Friday. • Throughout the year, tickets that have been redeemed will go into a drawing for gift cards and fun prizes. This is for both students and staff!
What are ways you think students can earn tickets? How many can you list?
Quarterly Rewards: Criteria • The Second Quarter Reward will be awarded to students who have had 3 or fewer Excused absences, 0 unexcused tardies/early dismissals, 0 unexcused absences, and are not currently on the ICU list. • The First Quarter Reward will be awarded to students who have earned at least a 3.5 Grade Point Average and are not currently on the ICU list.
Quarterly Rewards: Criteria continued • The Third Quarter Reward will be awarded to students who have earned 3 or fewer teacher referrals (write-ups), and have had zero ISS, zero OSS and zero bus write-ups, and are not currently on the ICU list! • The Fourth Quarter Reward will be awarded to students who have met all of the quarterly requirements and are not currently on the ICU list!
Discussion time 6th grade 7th and 8th grades What are the things you most enjoyed about B-UMS rewards last year? How do you personally keep yourself on track to earn quarterly rewards? • What are types of B-UMS rewards have you been hearing about? • What are you hoping to earn? (Teachers-please send Ms. Meadows, Ms. Zickefoose, or Mrs. Pavlic student suggestions.)
