First reason: Sacrifices • The Aztecs killed thousands of people and the total number of people who died can’t be calculated. • Many other cultures sacrificed humans but the fact that the Aztecs did as well and with great numbers made surrounding people built hatred towards them. This caused many people join the Spaniards and if their family or people they new were sacrificed.
In the beginning the Aztecs thought that the Spaniards were gods. A huge mistake the Aztecs made was not killing all of the Spanish army. They wanted more people to sacrifice and that was one of the reason the Spanish won. The Aztecs were wining but that caused a huge turning point. Second reason: religion
Disease was the major reason of the fall of the Aztec Empire. • The Aztecs had never come with many of the diseases the Spanish were immune too. Small pox was one of the main disease that was the cause of many Aztecs deaths. • It is estimated that 25% of the empire died from Small pox . • One of the worst things that could happen was when the leaders of the armies died. When Cortes landed, he was in good terms with the Aztecs but then things changed. He starts a war with them to conquer them and their land. He killed a lot of the Aztecs which was another big reason they declined at the height of their Empire. Fourth Reason: The Spaniards
