Art • Art could be made with gold, silver, copper, jewels, feathers, coral, clay, and stone. • A lot of their art is from ducks, monkeys, jaguars, snakes, deer, and dogs. • Most art would show gods, priests, or warriors.
Weapons • There are a lot of Aztec weapons, but some of the best are the clubs, atlatls, bows and arrows, and slings. • The slings were used to send stones flying in the air to the enemies. • Bows and arrows could fly up to 450 feet.
Food • Some of the things the Aztecs ate were maize/corn, eggs, fish, limes, peanuts, chocolate, grasshoppers, worms, shrimp, cheese, deer. • They only ate certain types of meats. • They collected water from the Texcoco Lake.
Transportation • One of the things they used for transportation was a canoe. They traveled throughout many canals, and rivers. • They used canoes to travel through lakes and different waterways. • The wheel was only used in toys for the kids.
Homes/shelter • Their homes are made of adobe, and they usually have only one room divided into four rooms. • The doctors thought that all people should have a bath. • Some people have large gardens in their yards.
Farming • Some kinds of farmers were labourers, and specialists. • Some of the crops they grew were maize, beans, and squash. • Most people planted seeds by hand.
Music • Some of the things they played was the drums, rattles, flutes, horns, trumpets, conch, and snail horn. • It was part of their culture and religion to make music. • Children would start to learn dances and songs between ages 12 and 15.
What they did for present day life • They used canoes for transportation and we use canoes. • They also used bow and arrows to hunt for food and we use bow and arrows to hunt. • They ate cheese and chocolate we also eat cheese and chocolate.
Training children • The children learned about respect for the old people. And learning to be truthful and to control over themselves. • The boys learned to help their fathers, first starting off really easy, then getting harder. • Some of them trained for war at age fifteen.
