Firing of Fort Sumter • This Battle took place in Charleston, SC in 1861. • It brought victory to the Confederates.
Battle of Antietam • This is known as the bloodiest battle in the Civil War. • This took place in Sharpsburg, MD, on September 17, 1862. • The victory went to the Union.
Battle of Gettysburg • This is a turning point in the Civil War. • This took place in 1863, in Adams County, Pennsylvania. • The victory went to the Union.
Siege of Vicksburg • This was another turning point of the war. • It took place on May 18, 1863- July 4, 1863, in Warren County, Mississippi. • The victory went to the Union.
Emancipation Proclamation • The Emancipation Proclamation was issued by Abraham Lincoln to free slaves during Civil War. It freed nearly 50,000 slaves. • On September 22, 1862, Abraham Lincoln announced that he had issued the new proclamation.
Assassination of Lincoln • President Lincoln’s Assassination was fatal. It was connived by a man named John Wilkes Booth. He was an employee of The Ford’s Theater in Washington,D.C. John Wilkes Booth had rebelled against the Emancipation Proclamation by assassinating Mr. President Lincoln on April 14, 1865 by a gunshot to the head.
Lee’s Surrender at Appomattox • On the morning of April 9, 1865, was the last battle of the Civil War. That afternoon, General Robert E. Lee surrendered to the Union Army & Ulysses S. Grant in Appomattox Court House, VA. In this case, The Union Army had gained total victory.
