2. Firing on Fort Sumter • This was not a real battle because this was a plan by the Confederate to sneak attack the Union.

3. Battle of Antietam • The Battle of Antietam marked the culmination of Confederate General Robert E. Lee's first invasion of the Northern states. This was the bloodiest battle of the Civil war.

4. Battle Gettysburg • On the third day of the Battle of Gettysburg, Confederate General Robert E. Lee's last attempt at breaking the Union line ends in disastrous failure, bringing the most decisive battle of the American Civil War to an end. This was a turning point for the Union.

5. Siege of Vicksburg • On this day, Union General Ulysses S. Grant surrounds Vicksburg, the last Confederate stronghold on the Mississippi River, in one of the most brilliant campaigns of the war. This was the turning point of the War.

6. Emancipation Proclamation • The Emancipation Proclamation was a speech President Abraham Lincoln gave at Vicksburg he has already written it he just didn’t want to start more problems.

7. Assassination of Lincoln Lincoln would not live to help carry out his vision of Reconstruction. On the night of April 14, the actor and Confederate sympathizer John Wilkes Booth slipped into the president's box at Ford's Theatre in Washington and shot him point-blank in the back of the head.

8. Lee’s surrender at Appomattox Court House • Robert E. Lee was the best General there was until he met Ulysses S. Grant which whom he surrendered to at the Appomattox Court House.
