Business Opportunities Programme Business Opportunities Programme • A strong element of the Business Opportunities Programme is to enable local businesses to maximise on opportunities presented from the City of Culture 2013. • Main overarching theme is to then help businesses build on this year and sustain growth for the years 2013 and beyond. • To be successful and sustain growth businesses will need to establish strategic partnerships with each other working together to cross sell and develop ideas that will be of mutual benefit.
Business Opportunities Programme Importance of Partnerships • Business Partnerships play a key role in boosting revenue as well as enhancing the visitor experience. • A business partnership should be just like a personal one “Its a marriage of different individuals for mutual benefit, where similar goals and hopes should be key” (Visit Britain Insights, John Swarbrooke)
Business Opportunities Programme Partnership Packaging • Partnership packaging should be developed as a way of increasing business for all concerned. • Relationships should not be seen as short term for the 2013 City of Culture year, but rather as something that can be built on and carried forward.
Local Package Examples • Tower Museum / Blooms Cafe Peter McKenzie (Blooms Cafe) ran a pilot project with Tower Hotel offering discounted entrance admission to patrons of the Cafe. • Visitor Passport DCC –Passport holders can access discounted entrance rates to local tourism venues
Local Package Examples • Airporter Offering private transport services, including private tours, Golf Tours and private airport transfers. In 2012, Airporter launched a new Day Tour product to encourage visitors to use Derry/Londonderry as a base from which to tour from.
How we can Support you • Break Out Session – Ideas Generation • Groups will be assigned a mentor who will assist in the development of the package. • One to one mentoring will also be available across a wide range of business topics. • Workshops and master classes being held over the coming months.
