2 Year Rolling Programme PHSCEE KS1 & 2 The rolling programme is constructed using the School adapted units of study to ensure content delivery and progression. Please refer to the planning formats for information of how these units will be adapted by teachers to develop medium term plans. Although the expectations are taken partly from QCA and school adapted units the planning may differ to ensure it is differentiated appropriately to meet the needs of the children at Maplefields School The rolling programme is split into two cycles to accommodate the specific class groupings in the primary phase. This will ensure that children will have access to the full programme as they move through the school even if they remain in the same class for more than one year. • Aims and purposes of PHSCEE • Our aim in teaching PHSCEE is to enable children to reflect on their experiences and understand how they are developing personally and socially, tackling many of the spiritual, moral, social and cultural issues that are part of growing up. It provides a basis for children within which they can grow in confidence as people and become informed, thoughtful, responsible, healthy and safe members of society. The aims are to enable: • Understanding of themselves. • Developing confidence and responsibility and making the most of their abilities. • Learning about citizenship and how to play an active role as citizens. • Developing a healthy lifestyle. • Learning to keep safe. • Developing good relationships (including sex education). • Respecting differences between people. • Objectives • To take part in a wide range of activities and experiences across and beyond the curriculum, contributing fully to the life of the school and community.
