  2. Definition • Small pox is a serious and contagious disease. • It is due to viruses. • The disease has been around for 10,000 years. • You have small pox when you get sores.

  3. Symptoms • Backache • Severe confusion • Diarrhea • Feeling ill • Excessive bleeding and vomiting

  5. Spread • Family members easily spread to each other • Saliva droplets • Bed sheets • Clothes • Most contagious during first week of infection

  6. Current Research • To stop spread doctors isolate infected people • Making more vaccines for prevention • Vaccine now makes smallpox less severe • Doctors are looking for easiest way of spread
