Final project: Overview • The idea of the final project is to give you an opportunity to analyze real data, to apply the analysis to a broader societal or scientific concern, and to present the findings in both a written and spoken form. • In groups of 3 • Each group will pick a different topic that comes with data.

7. Excel Techniques • Sometimes, rows are missing. Check for hidden rows. Notice below that rows 13-17 are missing.

8. To make them appear, click on the row heading (the picture above shows rows 1 through 33 being selected).  Choose: • <Format><Row><AutoFit> • Any hidden rows can now be seen.

10. Delete rows and columns of unwanted data • Click on the column (or row) heading and choose <Edit><Delete>.  This will delete the entire column (or row) and not leave empty columns (or rows) of data.  You will want to delete any empty rows of data between years the same way… leaving them in will impact your graph.

11. Localized Trendlines • Localized trendlines: Something you’ll need for your final projects. • We need it because often the whole set of data is unfit to make a prediction with. Sometimes, we want to make a prediction with just the last ten years, where a trend of some sort is obvious.
