  1. Facts for May 18 May 1980 Mount St Helens, an active composite volcano in Washington in the Pacific Northwest region of the USA erupted. It was the worst destructive volcano event in the history of the US. 18 May 1991 Helen Sharman became Britain’s first astronaut on an 8 day mission aboard a Soviet Soyuz spacecraft with two cosmonauts.

  5. Eco Club On LAW Duty This Week 6M • 2 LAW officers in each of the playground zones • 1 LAW officer with Mr Linklater to litter pick at the front of the school

Pupil Council The Pupil Council met with Mr Balfour to see how cycling arrangements might be improved and agreed these changes: Children cycling to school should use the car entrance and not go through the gates onto the flagpole patio where children are walking. They should walk with their bikes when in school grounds. Use cycle/walkways around the school if possible, and don’t cycle the wrong way up one-way streets.

  7. Games Parliament The Games Parliament will be holding Interhouse Hoppy relay races starting this week on Wednesday at break time. The first race will be between 5E and 5M. If you want to take part go to the hoppy track at the start of break time P4 and P5 Interhouse Kick Rounders will also be played in the ball court at lunch time this week.. Check the fixture list on the notice board for when your class is playing.

  8. Well Done to …………. Alex, Morgan, Jamie, Calvin, Liam, Jamie, Danny, Ewan and Euan who competed in the Golf Red Cross Cup.

  9. Well Done to …………. Zara, Emma and Ella. They were part of the Orkney Under 13 Netball team who travelled to Peebles to compete in the final of the Scottish Youth Cup where they finished Runners Up, losing to Peebles 30 – 13 in the final.

  10. Well Done to …………. Ellie for completing her ‘Learn to Swim’ Level 3 Paige who took part in the Flotta 5km Road Race.

  11. Well Done to …………. All the boys who took part in a P1-4 football tournament held on the All Weather Pitch.
