Who I am • I was a French explorer, navigator , and geographer • I was born in (1567 in France and died in 1635 in Quebec, Canada. • I was called the Father of New France. • I was known as one of the best cartographers. • I watched the lives of native Americans and lived with them on and off. • I was born in a small port town on the west coast of France. • I was married but had no children. • I was most likely born as a commoner but built a solid reputation as an explorer and navigator. • .
Why I was important • I founded Quebec , Canada. • I mapped most of northeastern north America. • I discovered Lake Champlain . • I established the French colonies in the new world. • I opened up north America to French trade , especially the fur trade. • I made friends with the Huron and the Iroquois. • I gave the first description of the Ottawa River. • My father was a sea caption and taught me how to navigate.
What impact did I have • I would make very accurate predictions about network lakes and other features of the area. • I was the first explorer to give an accurate and detailed discretion of the area of Plymouth Rock. • I fought the first battle against the Iroquois creating bad relations for the next 100yrs. • I influenced is still felt by current French Canadians . • I made many many explorations and discovererys of northern New York. • I was one of the first to write about Niagara Falls . • I founded Quebec witch is the first permanent settlement in New France. • I as the key explorer of the Great Lakes region and the Northern American coast.
When and where I made my journey • 1599 I sailed to the Spanish colonies. • 1599 to 1601 I sailed to the West Indies , Mexico , and Panama. • 1603 I sailed to Canada and explored the St. Lawrence River. • 1604 I sailed along New England coast. • 1608 I returned to Canada to establish a fur-trading post. • 1610 to 1624 I made seven trips to France to get supplies and help for Quebec. • 1628 the English took over Quebec and took me to England. I returned to France in 1629. • 1633 I sailed back to Quebec when they took Quebec back from the English and lived there till my death in 1635.
How I traveled • I sailed on a French trapping ship. • My boats name was the Canada 51. • Many od my men died. • It was a lot of work to try and keep my boat afloat and on track. • Dried food that wont rot. • There were a lot of storms. • We played games and plays to entertain us. • We got sick a few times.
Unknown facts • I was one of the first to propose construction of the Panama canal. • I hoped to find northwest passage through North America to Asia. • I was in the French army as a young man. • I was wounded twice in the leg by arrows during the battle with the Iroquois. • No one knows where he was buried.
