Role of Divisions/Technical Groups The object of each Technical Group and Professional Division shall be to provide, through a group of members of any grades particularly interested in an area of nuclear science or technology within the scope of the Society's activities, means for promoting the sciences and arts of that area.----B9.2a

Division and Standing Committees NEED Committee – ETWDD Chairman ex officio Membership Committee - ETWDD Chairman ex officio Professional Divisions – All PD/TG chair and vice-chairs (limit 1 vote per PD/TG) NPC - a member and an alternate to represent each Professional Division and Technical Group shall be designated by the respective Division or Group Chair Public Information – Ex officio members shall also include a representative from each Professional Division and Technical Group designated by the respective Division or Group Chair for a one (1) year term Professional Women in ANS – ETWDD Chairman ex officio Scholarship Policy and Coordinating Committee – ETWDD Chairman ex officio Student Sections Committee – ETWDD Chairman ex officio

Rule 18 for Divisions/TGs Officers - No member shall be eligible for the chairmanship until he/she has served one (1) year on the Executive Committee Executive Committee –not fewer than six (6) members, approximately one-third (1/3) of the members expire at the conclusion of the Annual Meeting.

Rule 18 for Divisions/TGs Meetings - not to interfere with regular national meetings of the Society 6-weeks advance notice in writing to the Executive Director Dues – PD/TG may (1) collect dues from its members as provided in the Group or Division bylaws and rules and regulations and (2) may also accept non-compulsory financial contributions, but solicitation and acceptance of such contributions shall be subject o the written approval of the BoD The financial affairs of the PD/TG shall be conducted in such a manner that the PD/TG shall be financially independent (not rely on support from Society funds) Minutes- the PD/TG Secretary files minutes with ED within 30 days of meeting

  15. Professional Divisions Manual Flexibility of the Society's divisional organizational structure is important in such a rapidly developing field as nuclear energy. This can be assured by: (a) the merging of Divisions or Groups when scope and functions overlap or greater strength could be gained by broader interdisciplinary activity; (b) the formation of new Groups to foster new disciplines or change technical emphasis; (c) the dissolution of Groups or Divisions to reflect changes in emphasis. PDC Manual – Role of Divisions Each division should have as primary aims: (a) the promotion of high quality technical and scientific sessions at the annual meeting; (b) sponsorship of topical meetings that are carefully planned with consideration of the relationship to the National Society meetings; (c) sponsorship of special technical documents such as review articles and standards. http://www.new.ans.org/about/committees/pdc/

  17. PD/TGs service to Society Promote joint sponsorship of meetings by more than one division, treating a topic in depth and with interdisciplinary content. Support and contribute to the functions and objectives of the Society; serve on national committees, the Board, and as officers. Support the development of Society-sponsored short course programs with the Professional Development Coordination Committee. Relationships with pertinent outside professional society activities should be maintained and strengthened. Cooperate with Society's other constituent units and standing committees for continuity on working towards the goals of the Society. http://www.new.ans.org/about/committees/pdc/

Society service to PD/TGsANS Staff Liaison to PD/TGs: Ms. Bonnifer Ballard (bballard@ans.org) Provides electronic assistance to set up websites and establish listserves, maintains PD/TG mailing lists Provides National Meeting support – Melissa McKinzie, ANS Staff Provides Topical Meeting support - Acts in lieu of local section for division-sponsored topical meetings in the exceptional case that local section support is not available Assists with Division awards and certificates of appreciation Provides semi-annual divisional financial reports to division chairs and treasurers. http://www.new.ans.org/about/committees/pdc/

  19. Division Chairman • Supervision over the affairs of the Division (Technical Group), subject to the direction of the Executive Committee • Preside at meetings of the Executive Committee and shall have the power to perform such other duties as may be provided in the Bylaws, or in the Rules, or as may be delegated to the office by the Executive Committee • Be an ex-officio member of all committees of the Division (Technical Group) and an ex-officio member of the Professional Divisions Committee of the Society. http://www.new.ans.org/about/committees/pdc/

Vice-Chairman • Perform the duties of the Chair if the Chair is unable to serve. • Serve as Chair of the Program Committee of the Division (Technical Group), or as the Alternate Chair of the Program Committee. • Other duties as may be assigned the office by the Executive Committee. http://www.new.ans.org/about/committees/pdc/

  21. Secretary • Shall record and file with the Executive Director within thirty (30) days after the meeting date(s) the minutes of the Division (Technical Group) Executive Division (Technical Group) • Shall act as custodian of Society Bylaws and Rules, and of Division (Technical Group) Bylaws, and Rules • In the absence of both the Chair and the Vice-Chair, shall preside at meetings of the Division (Technical Group) • Shall have such other duties as may be assigned by the Executive Committee. http://www.new.ans.org/about/committees/pdc/

Treasurer - Fiduciary responsibilities • Develop financial statements and present year and out-year budgets to be presented at the Annual and Winter Meetings • Upon Executive Committee approval, the Treasurer shall send the Division (Technical Group) budget to the Executive Director (PDC Staff Liaison) • The Treasurer, as well as the Chairman are empowered to disburse Division (Technical Group) • Oversee the financial aspects of all embedded and stand-alone topical meetings that are sponsored by the Division (Technical Group) • Report the accruement of the scholarship fund to the Executive Committee at the Annual and Winter Meetings, and interface with the Scholarship Committee http://www.new.ans.org/about/committees/pdc/
