The aim of the Counter-attack. • A way of playing without taking any risks in order to achieve a good result. • The starting point is not to lose the game.
Counter-attack is based on: • A well organized defence. • Assuming an attitude of expectation. • Playing a waiting game • Winning the ball on own half field of play. (about 10-15 mtrs before the 16 mtrs line) • Often together with zone-line defence.
After retaining the ball: • Performance of a short combination play in a high tempo. • Or a long pass to the strikers and a quick connection forwards of the lines.
Conditions to play the counter-attack. • Maintain the organization and positions • A high concentration and patience. Waiting for the right moment • One or more players able to give the deep pass on the right moment. • One or two quick , high skilled strikers. • Quick connecting lines forwards and backwards.
Performance of the Counter-attack. Opponent in ball possession: ☼ Return very Quickly to the own half field of play. ☼ Defend about 10-15 mtrs before your own 16 mtrs line. ☼ Force the opponent to play in the width and delay their playing tempo. ☼ Disturb the balance of the organization of the opponent.
Performance of the counter-attack in ball possession. ☼ Attack as quickly as possible. Use the space and/or a majority in numbers. ☼ Attention to the first pass or dribble. ☼ The strikers have to keep ball possession in order to be able to give the pass back to a connecting midfielder. ☼ A quick connecting of the lines.
Team-tactical training.Experience period k • 5 attackers can score on the big goal. • The 4 + K play zone-line defence and try to score by a counter-attack on two 2 mtr goals. Methodics: • Field smaller (easier for the 4 +K) 2 3 4 5 9 11 10 8 7 4+k versus 5 ½ field
Team-tactical training.The learning period. • 6+K play zone-line defence and try to score by a counter-attack (1-4-2 formation). • 7+K play a attacking game in a 1-1-3-3 formation. Methodics: • Field narrower. • 7 +k have to score within 5 passes k 2 3 4 5 10 11 9 8 6 7 7 6 4 k
Team-tactical training.Game period • Team blue play in a 1-1-4-3 formation an attacking game. • Team orange play in a 1-4-3-1 zone-line defence and try to score by a counter-attack. • Play 3 x 10 minutes k 3 2 4 5 9 10 11 6 7 8 7 8 6 5 10 2 3/4-1/1 field. k
