Background • Educators and representatives from the heavy equipment industry have joined together to offer students experiences to help them understand the requirements and skills needed to enter this exciting field.
Prerequisites • Minimum 16 years of age • 1 senior level technology credit • 1 Careers / Civics credit • Minimum 12 high school credits • Application process required
Course Description • 4 credit co-op (1 semester). • Opportunity to retrieve previously unsuccessful credits through independent study. • Placements include: field technician; service technician; parts; sales; equipment operator. • Opportunities to explore industry through tours, guest speakers, certification training.

After completing the 4 credit Heavy Equipment Co-op program, students have the opportunity to further their training by taking an 8 week Equipment Training Certification course through Georgian College.
Each year, Toromont Industries is offering a $3000 scholarship to a successful graduate from the 4 credit Heavy Equipment Co-op program, attending the Heavy Equipment Service and Repair Technician course at Sir Sanford Fleming.
