STATE OF READINESS FOR ADDITIONAL FUNDS DURING 2005-06 PROGRESS ON APMC ACT AMENDMENT. The APMC Act of Nagaland has been finalized which will be passed in the ongoing Assembly Session 2005-06.
THRUST AREAS: • Change in seed procurement policy, in line with crop zoning requirement. • Mechanised farming system. • Marketing infrastructure/network system and value addition programs. • Crop diversification. • Commercial scale production for some identified economically viable crops such as Kholar (Local Rajmah), Ginger ,Cardamom, Passion fruit etc.
ISSUES NEED TO ADDRESS: • The present level of subsidy under Agricultural Machinery is less than 25% which may be enhanced to 50% to reach the targeted group. • For effective and timely implementation of Macro-Management program, funds may be released through SFAC at par with Horticulture Technology Mission.
