  1. Extra Periods

  2. Coin Toss First extra period • Normal coin toss mechanics • Captains notified they have one timeout per period • Choices for winners of the coin toss: • Offense or defense for first possession series • End of field to be played for entire entire period • NO CHOICE TO DEFER • Additional extra periods • Teams alternate choice • H and L obtain choices from head coaches

  3. Penalty Enforcements • Key points to remember • Series will almost always begin with 1st and 10 • Fouls occurring after change of poss. are enforced like fouls after change of poss. during a try • Fouls by Team A occurring after ready-for-play but before snap penalized like normal, dead ball fouls • No PSK

  4. Fouls After Change of Possession • Declined by rule, EXCEPT: • FLAGRANT personal fouls • Unsportsmanlike conduct • Dead-ball fouls (or treated as dead-ball) • Score by team committing foul is canceled • Fouls by both teams • If B clean before change of poss.: END OF SERIES • If B fouled before change of poss.: REPEAT DOWN Enforced on Succeeding Play

  5. Question #1 • A 2/5 at B-20. Runner #A36 fumbles at the B-17, where #B44 recovers and returns to the 50, where he fumbles. #A12 recovers and is tackled • End of series. B 1/10 at B-25 (3-1-3-e)

  6. Question #2 • #B36 recovers a fumble and returns to the A-10, where #A88 tackles him by the facemask. • End of series; B 1/10 @ B-25. All penalties after change of possession are declined by rule, except unsportsmanlike or flagrant personal fouls. (3-1-3-g-1)

  7. Question #3 • A 1/10 at B-25. The pass is intercepted by #B-90 and is returned to the 50, where he is tackled by the facemask. B was offside at the snap. • A 1/10 at B-25. Penalties offset and the down is replayed, as B fouled before the change of possession. (3-1-3-g-3)

  8. Question #4 • A 1/10 at B-25. #A36 runs for a touchdown. During the down, #B55 unnecessarily knocks down #A66. • Try at B-1½. Since there is no succeeding kickoff, there is no choice but to enforce on the try. (10-2-5-a-1)
