Ghana *Ghana was an ancient agricultural kingdom of the Soninke people with a rich trans-Saharan trade. *Ghana was a highly wealthy trading empire.
Mali *Sudiata was the king of the empire of Mali. *Mali was once part of Ghana. *Mali’s economy was based on trade.
West Africa *West Africans were farmers. *Farmers developed different farming methods to suit the different types of land. *People who lived in rural villages were members of large related families, or clans.
African Culture *Kinship is a family relationship that was the basis of government. *The male head of each clan became one of the village chiefs and often one of the religious leaders.
