FEP @ SAC: Essential Features Program History • Started in 1996 (Title III HSI) • Key Ingredient - Faculty Leadership • Gaining and maintaining traction • Since 2004 – primarily grant funded (Title V, Irvine Foundation/SSPIRES, BSI)
FEP @ SAC: Essential Features • Cohorts in sequential linked classes. • Counselors & Teachers meet weekly with partners and once monthly with all members of the program. • One Year in duration

The Partnership with Research • Ave. persistence rate to a second semester (1996-2010) • FEP = 83% • Control = 71% • All Freshmen = 56.3% • Completion rate of a two course seq. in one year (1996-2004) • FEP English = 42.8% • Control English = 26.8% • FEP Math = 34.7% • Control Math = 21.5%
