Executive Summary • Focus on regional results, training, and leadership development • Work with elected officials on Regional High Schools • Educate communities on benefits of reorganization • Move to regional CBO • Move to regional Food Service Management • Move to regional O&M Service • Look at Transportation • Leverage Technology for both instruction and efficiency

  3. What does the research say about Mergers? Positives Negatives Some students have a longer bus ride Class sizes grow Tax rates on true value decline School district spending increases Student achievement does not necessarily change • Curriculum opportunities for students enhanced • Extra-curricular opportunities enhanced • Individual property taxes stabilize • Large amounts of incentive aid

  4. Traditional Mergers • More people than ever are dating, very few are getting married, and everyone wants to “marry up” • Long history of local control in NYS; thousands of municipalities and taxing entities
