Change • The universal topic that we have chosen to discuss is Change. • Change is the process of becoming different. • Whether it be a new fashion, or a new diet change comes in many forms. • We will inform you about change through these three stories, The Blindside, The Little Mermaid, and The Descent.
Handsomest Drowned Man • Some examples of change in this story are that the people of the town changed what he was wearing • The people of the town changed the way they lived. • How their houses looked and the size of them for the Handsomest Drowned Man. • The people changed their opinion at how quick they are to judge a person by their size and appearance, after seeing as to how hard Esteban had it.
The Blind Side • We chose The Blind Side because we thought it had a lot of examples of change in it. • The people in the movie have to change the way they live because they’re adopting a new kid named Michael. • Michael soon becomes a star athlete in football and received many scholarships and became a successful NFL player; all because of the family’s will to change and reform to Michael’s needs.
The Little Mermaid • Another movie that represents change is The Little Mermaid. • Ariel, the mermaid, changes into a human after a curse. • She had to change the way she lived and how she did things like learning how to walk, how to use a fork, proper manners, and how to be human.
The Descent • Change represented in this movie is not only physical, but emotional. • One way that the plot was changed physically was when everything was going just right and then in one minute the girls were stranded in the unsafe cave. • An example of emotional change in this movie is when one of the girls that is a nice person changes into a maniac that is trying to stay alive and does aweful things.
Change in History of American Indians • When we think of American Indians we might think of simple living people. • But in reality the American Indians had to adapt and change when the Europeans came from England in the 1600’s. • Some American Indians had to change the lifestyle that they lived. • In later years some had changed to more agriculturally related ways of living, rather than hunting and gathering.
Tanner’s Text-to-Self • Tanner had changed her lifestyle after her parents got divorced. • She also had to change schools after the divorce. • After changing schools, Tanner had gotten some new friends. • Change has been a big part of Tanner’s life.
Eric’s Text-to-Self • Eric has gone through many changes in his life. • He has gotten a lot bigger and has been through many physical changes since he was younger. • His Grandfather died about six years ago and had to learn to cope without him. • Like Tanner, Eric found new friends.
Brooklyn’s Text-to-Self • Change was hard for Brooklyn • It was hard for her when her two siblings moved out of the house and her being the only kid left in the house. • Another reason why change was hard for Brooklyn was moving from middle school to high school, most of her friends were going to Middle Creek when she was going to Fuquay.
Marshal’s Text-to-Self • Change is a big part in Marshal’s life. • He had to handle and cope with the death of his close uncle. • Marshal has been through many physical changes, it is hard to imagine that he used to be small and fragile.
Conclusion • Change has effected all of us. • Whether is be emotional or physical, we have all gone through changes in life. • We have learned that change occurs not only in stories and movies but also in life.
