The Department of Mineral Resources has: • Completed a review and mapped its business processes • NMPS Data import to new GIS system • Developed a GIS- based system • Addressed hardware constraints causing excessive downtime • Public ability to spatially view rights issued and under application • Public ability select land and to apply electronically for prospecting and mining rights and mining permits • Developed Standard Guidelines and Templates • Developed standard Evaluation Tools
Before commencement of Application, a prospective Applicant needs to create a profile, supplying details as shown above
Once the applicant is logged in, the following services are available
A Mining Rights Application will, as an example, require the following documentation to be completed and uploaded with the application
Once the general information has been completed, the applicable land needs to be selected by clicking on the “Select Land” button
An integrated GIS component will now allow the Applicant to select the land being applied for (Freehand selection, Farm selection and Manual Coordinate input are provided)
Once the land has been selected, Part A of the Application form needs to be completed
Part C is Automatically populated from the Applicant’s User details that have been provided
The final step is to upload all required documentation, note that the documents have to be provided in the prescribed format
Once the application has been uploaded, an application record is generated internally with the following Workflow.
Each Application is adjudicated using an internal Checklist driven approach. These checklists are inline with the Guidelines and Templates that have been submitted.
DMR Internal Adjudicators are required to supply confirmation of compliance or Non Compliance, with each regulation
The online GIS Viewer allows Applicants to review details of all awarded rights and Open applications and the status of each
