H2020 Project (1/3) • Aim: feed EU policymakers with evidence for migration and integration policies • Research on two topics of relevance for cities: • Cities as service providers (research done in Y1 – results soon) • EU funding a comprehensive approach to the integration of migrants at local level (research in progress) • Project steps: • Identify stakeholders’ key policies and priorities on the topics • Outline policy needs to tackle those priorities • Launch event to present and raise awareness about the topics • Feed the European Commission with the results
H2020 Project (2/3) EU funding a comprehensive approach to the integration of migrants at local level Step 1: Consultation with WG Migration and integration members • An online open consultation will be launched in the upcoming days via the http://www.resoma.eu website • How should EU support funding at local level in order to achieve a comprehensive approach to integration? Choose the two most relevant: • Enabling comprehensive integration from day one & improving coordination among authorities for newly arrived • Mainstreaming integration across policy areas & aiming for long-term integration outcomes • Establishing effective non-discrimination policies & enforcing anti-discrimination laws • Facilitating social investments (education, health, care etc.) & ensuring adequate social infrastructures in areas affected by immigration • Creating a knowledge base & strengthening evidence-based integration policy development and evaluation
H2020 Project (3/3) Launch event in autumn to present, discuss and raise awareness about the topics: • Cities as service providers • EU funding a comprehensive approach to the integration of migrants at local level Aims: • Present and discuss the findings on the topics • Raise awareness on cities’ priorities: available budget to reach out to policymakers and stakeholders who are influential on the position of various EU countries in EU migration policymaking
